I had originally booked a different hotel for our stay in Budapest but after reading the reviews online I switched our booking to this one and I am so pleased that we did. We were on the 9th Floor so we had an excellent view of the Danube, Parliament, the bridges and Pest. We also had a balcony. We booked the boat trip one night but didn't really need to bother as we could have this excellent view everyday from our room. The Hotel is ideally placed and we never once used any public transport and chose to walk everywhere - although by day 4 after walking 8/9 hours a day I think we were ready to collapse! I was pleased that we didn't stay in the Castle District at the top of the hill as we did that journey by steps around 8 times so this Hotel was ideal where it was placed. Also, round the corner is a 24 hour convenience shop so we brought wine and beer from here for our room which was cheaper than the mini bar. The staff were great and the fresh cooked eggs in the morning were excellent. I had read on the reviews about queuing at breakfast but this only happened to us one day and we had a 5 minute wait. This was at around 9.15am but when we went earlier in the morning the other days we didn't have to wait. We did have the afternoon tea on our first day which was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this Hotel.
My first time in Budapest so being able to have a great view of the Danube from our room was a real bonus. The daytime view was great, at night it was stunning. The hotel is well situated for exploring the Buda side and just a few minute walk from the Chain Bridge giving access to the Pest side. Trams stop a few meters away from the hotel which allows some routes to be taken without having to walk. Tickets can be brought from a machine just a few minutes walk past the hotel towards Margaret Bridge. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, stored our bags on our arrival and departure day and gave plenty of helpful advice. Breakfast was plentiful and a good variety of food, the toaster needs replacing though as it only works on one side! The room was large, very clean, and has loads of storage space. The safe was easy to use as was the air con. The bed was very comfortable, although if you like soft mattresses might not be to your liking. The bathroom was clean and spacious and the power shower very refreshing. My only minor complaint concerns the bath towels which are smaller than normal and very thin indeed. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. Stayed October 2014, travelled with friends
Great staff, rooms, views from the moment we arrived we were looked after and the room was perfect wifi included and lastly the views are to die for, a plus was the pub next door with excellent Belgian beer
All of the rooms in this small hotel face the Danube. We loved looking across to the Parliament building, especially at night when it is lit--or looking the other direction to the Chain Bridge, also lit at night. The room was large, comfortably furnished, immaculately clean. The large wardrobe gave us ample room for clothing and luggage for our 4-day stay. The breakfast buffet offered lots of options, including eggs cooked to order. They offer afternoon tea in the White Music Hall in the attached Hubay Palace--an interesting peek at what this row of townhouses were like in another era. The staff were friendly and helpful--recommending an excellent restaurant a few blocks away (Kacsa Restaurant) and calling a cab for the day of departure. We love to walk, so we liked being on the Buda side--we explored the Vizivaros neighborhood and it made us walk across the Chain Bridge each day, giving us a daily connection to the river. The Victoria in Budapest isn't a big hotel. It has only 27 rooms (all with gorgeous, Danube-facing views). We weren't expecting such great service when our flight from London arrived four hours late--meaning that we arrived at 3:30 a.m.. The night manager had been checking our flight status and was waiting for us in the lobby when our taxi pulled up. He unlocked the front door, greeted us warmly (not grudgingly or angrily for making him stay up), and signed us in. Then he re-locked the front door, turned out the lobby lights, and presumably went to bed. The room was immaculate, modern, tasteful, and comfortable. The views were gasp-worthy; it's the same view you see on Budapest brochures--the Danube with Parliament. Awesome. The tram runs right in front of the hotel, and it takes you everywhere, including across the river to the Pest side. It's immensely convenient. Don't hesitate to book the Hotel Victoria. It's truly a gem.
We we greeted after we arrive later than we planned. Champagne awaited in our top floor room with a fabulous view of the river and a private balcony. Our host was so welcoming, the room lovely and well appointed, comfortable bed. Couldn't be happier. The Browns
This small hotel has everything, location, service, view. We stayed here for 3 days and loved it. We were worried that having a room on the 1st floor would be loud/poor view, but we were quite happy. Just a short walk over the "Chain Bridge" to shopping "Pest side" also a short walk down the Danube to Buda Castle.
Great location, incredible view of parliament and river traffic, attractive room. This hotel is a gem. The hotel is not expensive by Budapest standards and Parliament lighted at night, as seen from our room, is spectacular.
Boutique hotel Victoria has many unique selling points, the most striking of which is the breathtaking view from any of the hotel rooms. Our room on the 9th floor even had a balcony. It is situated conveniently near the Danube and the rooms are spacious and clean.
I love this hotel because of the wonderful view on the Danubio and old palaces. In ten minutes you can reach the pedestrian area full of restaurants, shops and people by crossing the bridge. The room is big, clean with a flat TV. The breakfast is acceptable.
